Take the CTI Hands-on Thanks to TEC! TISE24

Are you ready to take the CTI Hands-on Test at TISE24? If yes, you are in for a treat thanks to TEC!

TEC has generously offered to sponsor the materials and CTI test fees for 12 installers at TISE24.

That's right! 12 installers are eligible to have TEC pay for the $529 CTI test registration fee if they take the test during TISE in January 2024 in Las Vegas, NV.

CTEF will conduct 6 tests on the first day of TISE 24 Wednesday, January 24, and 6 on the second day Thursday, January 25.

Every Certified Tile Installer Hands-on Test starts with an orientation, usually the day before the test.

During TISE24, orientation will take place:

• On Tuesday, January 23 in the afternoon for the Wednesday, January 24 tests
• For the Thursday tests, on Wednesday, January 24 in the afternoon.

Finally, on the last day of the show, CTEF will field questions and talk through the test with show attendees.

How Does Registering for the TEC-Sponsored TISE24 CTI Hands-on Test Work?

To secure your spot, CTEF is asking installers like you to make a $200 deposit, which will be returned to you after you take the test, whether you pass or fail the hands-on test.

Test takers: please treat this CTI hands-on test just as you would any other test that CTEF conducts through hosted locations around the country.

In other words, you'll need to bring the recommended tools from the tool list, prepare by working through the training videos on the website, and come to the TISE24 show eager to display your skills during the 9-hour timed hands-on test at the CTEF booth #5373.

What About the CTI Program Written Test?

The CTI program includes a written test as well as the hands-on test. 

Although in 2023, CTEF relaxed the requirement to have the 155-question written test completed before the hands-on test, we recommend that you take the written test at your earliest convenience.

Why? Many CTI test veterans agree that the written test is an excellent way to mentally prepare for the hands-on test.

Installers will not receive a final grade until the written test is completed, but the relaxed requirement allows for CTEF and the installer to favorably meet for hands-on testing at the most convenient time. And if TISE24 is the most convenient time for you, then do it!

How Did TEC Get Involved with CTEF and Sponsoring the CTI Hands-On Test?

TEC is a long-time supporter and sponsor of CTEF, as well as involved on CTEF's Board of Directors, because of its commitment to encouraging ceramic tile education, certification, and training.

More specifically, Heather Ruhl, National Technical Manager of the Flooring Division of H.B. Fuller (parent company of TEC Installation), recently joined the CTEF Board

At Total Solutions Plus, Chris Kain, Digital Technical Manager with TEC, expressed an interest in helping tile installers gain their certification and agreed to sponsor testing at TISE, and also at Coverings 2024 in Atlanta, GA, April 22-25.
